The Parks of Maremma

The Maremma Regional Park, also known as Parco dell’Uccellina, covers the coastal strip between Principina a Mare and Talamone and is bordered by the Livorno-Rome railway. In addition to 9,000 hectares (the park area) there are about 8,500 hectares of neighboring land.
The park has been recognized by the EU with the European Diploma of protected areas. There are many different landscapes: the profile of the Uccellina mountains with their Poggio Lecci peak (417 meters), the shape of the Ombrone river, which separates the partially improved alluvial plain from the wetland of the Trappola and the succession of sandy beaches and cliffs on its coast.
